Sunday Reflections
Matthew 9:27-38 isn’t just about healing. It’s about seeing the truth, breaking the chains, and doing the real work. Jesus didn’t just walk around, looking all holy. He saw people in pain, in darkness, and in desperate need—and He went straight for them. This is the power we need to understand.
1. The Blind Men (Matthew 9:27-31)
Two blind men were asking Jesus for help. No fancy words. No drama. Just: “Lord, help us.” And Jesus did. He healed them. He didn’t heal them because they were perfect. He healed them because they had the faith to ask.
Straight Talk: We’ve all been blind at some point. Some of us still are. You’re walking around, thinking you know what’s what, but deep down you’re blind to the truth. Jesus doesn’t need you to be perfect—He just needs you to ask. He’ll heal your vision, but you gotta have the faith to see Him for who He really is.
2. The Mute Man (Matthew 9:32-34)
This dude not speaking because of a demon? So what did Jesus do? He stepped in, silenced the demon. Just like He can silence the demons in your life!
Straight Talk: When God starts doing real work in your life, the haters will hate. They’ll talk about how you’re not doing it right, or you’re not who they think you should be. But when Jesus shows up and moves in your life, no one can argue with that. They can hate all they want, but God’s got the power, not them. Don’t let the noise stop you. If God heals you, speaks to you, or moves you, that’s all that matters.
3. The Harvest is Plentiful (Matthew 9:35-38)
Jesus looked at the crowd and saw how lost they were. He had compassion, but then He said something that hit hard: the harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
Straight Talk: The streets are full of people who need Jesus. People who are lost, hurt, and broken. The harvest is out there—but you can’t sit on the sidelines. We’re called to step up and get out there. Not wait for someone else to do it. Not wait for the “perfect” moment. Jesus didn’t sit back. He went to the people who needed Him most. It’s time for us to do the same.
The Bottom Line:
Jesus opened blind eyes, silenced the hate, and told His followers to get to work. Some of us believe going to church every Sunday is enough. They think dripping in the latest fashions and saying a few hallelujah’s suffice! But it’s not. It’s about stepping into the mess—probably a mess we created—and doing the work. It’s about letting God use you to bring healing and hope to the broken.
The harvest is now. But if you’re waiting for someone else to do the work, you’re missing the point. Jesus called YOU to be the one to go out there and make a difference.
